The on-air meteorologist, who was familiar to Weather Channel viewers for years before his death, was memorialized in a touching post on the network’s Facebook page, where the channel wrote:
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to let you know that Dave Schwartz has passed away. He was a fan and staff favorite because he so obviously loved what he did and had a unique ability to draw viewers into the fascinating world of weather. His passion for weather was contagious and inspired many to enter the field of meteorology. His passion and love of weather will never be forgotten, he will be greatly missed.”
Ten years ago, Schwartz was given just a year to live due to pancreatic cancer, but radiation, chemotherapy, and a procedure to remove the tumor helped him beat the horrible disease.
Just months after that, he found that his pancreatic cancer had returned, and yet he found treatment again and beat the disease a second time.
Then, last year, he was diagnosed with cancer for a third time.

He took some time off work before returning to the channel, and addressing it live on the air one day during his show (below):
So inspiring, and so calm — what a great role model for how to fight and beat a disease like this with such strong resolve.
RIP, Dave. You will be missed.
